New Jersey Manufacturing Signal | October 28, 2026
What changed?
On October 26, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority announced approval of approximately $60 million in tax credits supporting Amneal Pharmaceuticals’ planned Piscataway manufacturing expansion. NJEDA reports more than $240 million in planned capital investment over three years and more than 330 expected new full-time jobs. These are plans, not completed investment or realized employment.
Why this matters to New Jersey manufacturers
Industrial expansion is more than purchasing equipment. Bringing new capacity online requires coordination among manufacturing engineering, quality, suppliers, logistics and workforce training. These are general ramp-up considerations; NJEDA did not report a quality failure or commissioning delay at Amneal.
Three practical readiness checks
- Equipment and process readiness: Do commissioning, qualification and process validation milestones align with the planned production schedule?
- People and procedures: Are training matrices, work instructions and ownership of critical handoffs current?
- Capacity and quality: Are throughput, first-pass yield and deviation trends visible before volume increases?
Question for manufacturers: If your order volume increased 20% next quarter, which process would become the bottleneck first?
